About Our Office
Who We Are
The Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) at UCF, established in 1989, protects and commercializes innovations developed by UCF researchers. Our team combines expertise in science, business, and law to manage intellectual property assets, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and related licenses.
Each submitted invention is thoroughly evaluated, and for select technologies, a tailored intellectual property protection plan and commercialization strategy are developed. OTT licensing professionals manage hundreds of promising technologies and actively pursue industry partners to bring these innovations to market.
What We Do
As part of the Office of Research and Commercialization, the Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) manages UCF’s intellectual property assets developed by UCF faculty, researchers, students, and staff. OTT professionals work closely with inventors to protect and promote their discoveries for use in publications, presentations, and the marketplace. Invention disclosures may be submitted via email using the UCF disclosure form.
OTT collaborates with inventors to review each discovery, explore potential applications, and assess feasibility, novelty, and market potential. The office also helps identify industry partners and facilitates licensing to bring technologies to market. Once a technology is licensed, the OTT team continues to monitor commercialization progress and manages revenue distribution, including royalties allocated to inventors, colleges, and departments to support further research.
Why We Do It
Our team supports UCF’s mission to be America’s Partnership University and to achieve international prominence in key graduate and research programs. Faculty play a crucial role in this success.
Located in Research Park, UCF’s Office of Technology Transfer is proud to serve world-renowned researchers and innovators. This proximity positions UCF to effectively connect with industry leaders and entrepreneurs seeking disruptive technologies.
